Who we are
Welcome! We are so glad you have stopped by. Our farm is called Raisin'Acres because we are always raising something around the place. When we started we were just raising kids. Now we raise animals, herbs, vegetables, and awareness about healthy living
As a clinical herbalist, I see clients and help them on their journey to health.
Our journey began when we became pregnant with quadruplets. We prayed many years for children and then were blessed with four beautiful little ones. We wanted to be good caretakers of what God had given us. Although we already ate healthy, we began to research nutrition. We made many changes to our diet and we soon became convinced that we needed to grow as much of our food as possible. We wanted to ensure proper soil and growing techniques were being used to increase the nutrient value of the food we were eating. What started out as a few tomato plants and vegetables has grown into numerous garden beds with a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, and herbs.
With our increased awareness of food came a desire to use only natural products on our skin. Using my knowledge of herbs, I began to experiment with making salves and cremes for our family. They worked so well and I was so excited about them that I began making and giving away extra's to other family members and friends. They would often tell me that I should market the stuff. Once we started making goat milk soap and lotion and feeling the difference in our skin, there was no going back. We were hooked. After many years in the trenches, rearing kids, I found time to make some products for others and I continue to experiment with new natural recipes.
I inherited my joy of herbs and "weeds" from my mother and maternal grandmother. I have been able to use these experiences to make products that are natural and work better than the chemical alternatives found in the store. I have read and studied tons of books on nutrition, herbs, and gardening over the years and like to tell people, "I know a little about a whole lot". I am a Certified Master Herbalist and am continuing my studies through classes, lecture, and study with other herbalists in North America. I am currently mentoring with Susan Fidler and hope to apply for registry to the American Herbalist Guild this fall (2017). I currently see clients and enjoy helping them on their journey to wellness and optimal health.
Our growing practices
We use only natural amendments in our soil and work hard to build up the minerals and microorganisms available to the herbs and plants we grow. We are not certified organic but use organic practices on the farm. We strongly believe that good soil that is rich in micronutrients will produce top quality plants, herbs, and fruits for human and animal alike. We carefully harvest the ingredients for our products when they are at their peak for optimal nutrient value. Ingredients that we cannot produce we purchase from trusted suppliers. Our Goats are fed GMO-free grain and alfalfa and have a diet that is as organic as we can manage. In return they provide us with rich, sweet milk to drink and make into cheese, goat milk soap, and lotion.
